...it's hard to believe that it's been so long.

[ Cagalli is doing a very admirable job of not tearing up! ]

Everything that happened here, all the battles, all the trials we pushed through... I wouldn't trade a second of it for the world. Now... now we all go our separate ways, at least for the time being. Most of us, anyways.

All of you who I don't get see, I'll miss you so much... but...

[ She shakes her head. ] This might not be the best time to be making job offers, but while I still have all of you paying attention... if anyone needs a place to go, a place to stay, a place to work, I've got a lot of pull in Orb, and I can guarantee you all of that. Morgenroete is looking to hire technicians, programmers, engineers, test pilots... and any experienced pilot would get a favorable transfer into Orb's military, even if you bring a non-standard unit.

Now that that's out of the way... I'm not gonna be able to hang around much longer, so... if I don't get to see you in person, this is good bye for now.
chili_sauced: (Righteous fury)
I am neither a princess nor a horse wiener hater!

And the moment Laharl gets out I'm making him clean the entire Kusanagi himself!
chili_sauced: (Quiet...)
Anyone looking out into space... like, at all in the general direction of Akatsuki is bound to see it. It's about as unstealthy as a mobile suit gets after all.

However, as a turret separates from the Shiranui pack and zooms out towards a floating target, various psychics around base might notice it for a different reason. An odd sensation, like that of a Newtype doing something Newtype-y, only somehow artificial, brief, and more clearly defined when it's on or off.

"I'm in space and it's still not as responsive..." Cagalli mutters to herself. The battle at Orb and that thing with Santa were the only times she'd gotten the kind of response out of the remote weapons that she's been looking for. This? This is frustrating.

The comms are open, of course, so she's perfectly buggable.
chili_sauced: (conversational)
[Cagalli has a video recording set up, frowning at it. It's a public message, and probably not something she needs to say quite like this... but she's doing it anyways.]

...h-hey there everyone.

[Lame start go.]

It's... Cagalli. I'm sure most of you have heard about what happened in Orb by now. I'm not going to apologize for what I did, because... well, I'll talk to anyone who wants to talk about it. I am sorry that it took me so long to realize that I shouldn't have cut off ties to the GDF completely, though, and I'm sorry I missed out on helping all of you so much.

[She scratches her head, looking a bit awkward.]

I'm... I'm gonna be resigning from my post as Chief Representative of Orb, at least for now. I'll be doing it within the next week; I'll talk to the heads of the other families and Parliament, and come to a decision on who we want to promote for the position, though I have ideas.

What this all means is that I'll be with the GDF from now on. I'll probably end up with some kind of upper-level military position, and act as a liaison between the GDF and Orb, which... will pretty much be an excuse to keep fighting with all of you, but so it goes.

A-anyways... I'm glad to be back, and it's... really, really nice to see all of you again.

[Private to Athrun]

Athrun... we need to talk. Face to face. In private.
chili_sauced: (Angst...)
[Like Athrun, Cagalli was taken to the infirmary upon her return - a secure infirmary, at least until someone decided that she was no longer a threat. Unlike Athrun, she has no visible wounds, though she was unconscious when she was removed from the cockpit of the Akatsuki.

Cagalli isn't injured. She is simply... exhausted.

Physically, mentally, emotionally at the end of her rope, she drifts in and out of fitful sleep, staring at the ceiling when she is awake, alone with her thoughts.

She is, however, allowed visitors, one at a time, and she has open communication within the station itself (some secure infirmary), so maybe she won't have to spend all of her waking moments parsing over what happened and what she did.]
chili_sauced: (pondering...)
Cagalli had effectively cut herself off from most of the GDF while she straightened things out in Orb - or tried to anyways. However, her utter failure in battle, coupled with an alliance that she doesn't want and doesn't have the charisma to work her way out of, has taken its toll on her. And now... the news hasn't gone public yet, but she's set to be married - to Yuna Roma Seiran of all people. She cursed her luck, and the archaic system that got her into it.

Her options were few, in the political climate of Orb. If she remained, her power would be chipped away at by an arranged marriage into the Seiran family, and she had little remaining influence to stand on her own if she refused to marry him. She could flee to the GDF, they'd certainly take her in and she had more than enough friends... but she couldn't focus on their mission while Orb was in such a state, and she didn't want to ever again be in a position where firing on Orb troops was the best solution.

But then... if she fled independently, would the people see her as a coward, or a rightful ruler forced into hiding? She could fight on her own terms, make Orb's treaty unattractive by interfering with their 'guardians' while not fighting them directly, and when she returned... she would be loved or hated, probably both but nothing in between. An all-or-nothing gamble, the sort of decision that the GDF had saved the world on in the past.

...

Reports were slow to reach even the ears of important politicians and officials, and will likely be slower to reach the public outside of Orb, but many of those who most strongly supported the treaty didn't bat an eye when Chief Representative Cagalli Yula Atha was determined to be missing from Orb entirely.
chili_sauced: (flkjlsjfs)
[Not long before the coming battle, Cagalli makes another of her periodic trips to Orb. While nothing explicit has come out about the plans that the prime minister and his growing number of supporters have in store, the writing is on the wall - she simply doesn't have her father's charismatic leadership, and the nation is scared of being attacked by another world power.]
chili_sauced: (*stare*)
The Titans... they... how do they think they'll get away with this?! There's no way they can cover up something like that, and anyone who'd take their side would have to be insane!

We can't let something like this happen again; there's no reason any more not to use Double X and Wing Zero and the Hagane and anything else with that kind of firepower and track down as many of their bases and fleets as possible. Even A-LAWS has to know that they can't side with them any more and remain credible to anyone, and I'm sure we'll have ZAFT's support even if they don't help directly.

People want to sign a treaty with groups like A-LAWS and the Titans... even self-preservation has to have its limits in the face of such atrocities, doesn't it?
chili_sauced: (*stare*)
[It's been just shy of a week since anyone's seen Cagalli on GDF property. She set out on a private plane for Orb on Monday, and has finally come back after a series of entirely fruitless political discussions.

She's quite intent on doing lots of manly Gundam-related things to take her mind off of idiots (ugh, those Seirans...), going on a nice date with Athrun, hanging out with friends...

Right now though, she's just going to head for her room wearing something between a scowl and whatever you call it when someone looks ready to drop over to sleep for at least ten hours. Sure you could stop her and talk to her, just don't feel bad if she bites your head off.]
chili_sauced: (Default)
[Cagalli is hunting Athrun down. While it might seem prudent to check his room first, she heads straight for the hangar before looking elsewhere if he isn't there.

She has something behind her back, wrapped in plain paper with a red ribbon. It's pretty obvious what it is; Cagalli isn't Japanese, but it gives her an excuse to actually do something for Athrun and not just with him.]
chili_sauced: (pondering...)
[You may notice that Cagalli does not seem very much like herself at the moment. She's moping about with her head down, and there are rings around her eyes as though she barely slept. Her greetings are halfhearted and she doesn't want to hold any long conversations.]

[Private, easily hackable to friends]

Nightmares... lately I've seen one horrible thing after another... and on top of it all I'm having actual nightmares as well now.

...I should probably talk to a therapist or something.
chili_sauced: (conversational)
[Filtered to Athrun]

Hey Athrun... I've got some free time and I really need to just get out and do something fun for a while. You wanna... go get lunch or see a movie or something?
chili_sauced: (sideglance)
...it's going to happen soon. Blue Cosmos... ZAFT... there isn't anything we can do to stop them at this rate. They'll use the most terrible weapons they have and we... we're going to have to stop them once and for all. After all that's happened, it's going to take one more battle to stop them, and I don't know how it's going to end. All we can hope for is to end it quickly.

[Filtered to Athrun]

I... I think we need to talk.
chili_sauced: (Angst...)
*Cagalli is in the hangar on board the Kusanagi, leaning against the Strike Rouge and staring down at her feet. Streaks of dried tears are still apparent on her face.*

Dammit... we tried so hard and barely saved anyone... we even had a chance... but that red mobile suit....

I don't care who's piloting it, next time I see that thing I'm taking it down.
chili_sauced: (pondering...)
[Private, unhackable]
Father... I think I know what I have to do, but I don't know how I'm supposed to do it. I know I need to try and rebuild Orb... but before that, there's so much threatening its existence. I don't even know who I should fight first, or if I should just hold off and give orders to others... and I'm sure there are plenty of survivors of the other families who would never agree with your ideals.

Right now, the best I can do is to fight anyone who would threaten the planet as a whole. I can't do much about protecting Orb if the planet it's on is destroyed. Then... find the survivors... hopefully the Sahaku family will take in and protect some refugees... and after that...

All of these what-ifs aren't doing me any good right now. I gotta just focus on what I can do now. I'll have plenty of time to figure things out when I can return to Orb.
[/private]

Er... hello there members of the GDF. I'm Cagalli Yula Atha, the um... Princess of the nation of Orb, or what's left of it. While I know it's not exactly national policy, the resources I brought with me - including the Strike Rouge and my own skills as a pilot - will temporarily be a part of your own.

My mechanics would also like at least a small spot in the hangar reserved for Orb purposes in case they need to use equipment that we don't have on the Kusanagi.

Is that everything? God, that was a terrible introduction. Well whatever. If they get a bad impression, tough.

[Filtered to Athrun and Kira]
Guys... you aren't going to fight each other any more, right? Don't even bother trying, because I won't let you.
[/Filter]

*For now, the Kusanagi will remain docked with the Independence 1. All of the Orb owned MS - the Strikes and Astrays - as well as the crew will remain aboard. Cagalli probably won't bother with her dorm on the I1 if she's busy with much of anything either.*
